Today was the first day that I didn’t see Morning Joe talk about Sarah Palin and Game Change.
It seemed every time you turned your head on Morning Joe you would see Steve Schmidt or Nicole Wallace or someone from the movie on the show. And it wasn’t just Morning Joe, we saw talk of the movie on all of MSNBC and on CNN as well.
HBO’s fictional portrayal of Sarah Palin was certainly newsworthy as far as the left and the MSM was concerned.
Meanwhile the White House with gas prices skyrocketing and their social issue attack sputtering decided to go on the offensive…against Sarah Palin:
As Rush Limbaugh put it yesterday:
This is exactly what they have to do. They have to come up with a villain. They have to have a demon, and it’s alternately me or Sarah Palin is the way this has been playing out. And they go back and forth, and they try alternately to take both of us out by hook or by crook, usually by crook. She’s not even on the ballot. She’s not even going to be the opponent. All they know how to do, Democrat Party playbook, page one, page two, war on women, Republicans are stupid, Sarah Palin’s a demon, what have you.
I’d say an ad directed at Sarah Palin by the president’s own campaign, not a superpac, should be news. Rush Limbaugh is not running for office and when the president went after him, it was all over the news.
And Sarah Palin didn’t sit back and take it either, she answered on facebook, directly:
I’m not running for any office, but I’m more than happy to accept the dubious honor of being Barack Obama’s “enemy of the week” if that includes the opportunity to debate him on the issues Americans are actually concerned about. (Remember when I said you don’t need a title to make a difference?)
and then she gave details:
Just off the top of my head, a few of these concerning issues include: a debt crisis that has us hurtling towards a Greek-style collapse, entitlement programs going bankrupt, a credit downgrade for the first time in our history, a government takeover of the health care industry that makes care more expensive and puts a rationing panel of faceless bureaucrats between you and your doctor (aka a “death panel”), $4 and $5 gas at the pump exacerbated by an anti-drilling agenda that rejects good paying energy sector jobs and makes us more dependent on dangerous foreign regimes, a war in Afghanistan that seems unfocused and unending, a global presidential apology tour that’s made us look feeble and ridiculous, a housing market in the tank, the longest streak of high unemployment since World War II, private-sector job creators and industry strangled by burdensome regulations and an out-of-control Obama EPA, an attack on the Constitutional protection of religious liberty, an attack on private industry in right-to-work states, crony capitalism run amok in an administration in bed with their favored cronies to the detriment of genuine free market capitalism, green energy pay-to-play kickbacks to Obama campaign donors, and a Justice Department still stonewalling on a bungled operation that armed violent Mexican drug lords and led to the deaths of hundreds of innocent people
So the president attacks Sarah Palin and Palin answers, offering to debate the president on these issues any time any place and how does MSM react? How does Morning Joe answer?
Why would that be? Haven’t we heard for a week how Sarah Palin was over her head, an object of pity?
Nope not a word. Even today Richard Cohen attacks not the real Sarah Palin but the Sarah Palin of the movie:
Not only did she know little, but she was determinately incurious and supremely smug in her ignorance.
Strange if she was as ignorant as he claims, why not quote the words she just uttered as an example to clinch it. Why not use those words against her?
His dilemma is quite understandable. If his readers actually read her words, they might actually realize that the portray that the MSM painted of Sarah Palin was false, is false and always has been false. He understands that it was Sarah Palin (along with Rush) who fearlessly fought back when people like Cohen thought they had finally driven a stake through the heart of conservatism.
Simply put, it’s because he’s and the left remain afraid of Sarah Palin.
Remember when Palin appeared in Wisconsin and spoke (just before Breitbart) at the height of the Wisconsin fight, you wouldn’t if you read Cohen:
Why has there been so little on the air about this? For the same reason you will not see the full clip of Palin’s speech embedded in MSM sites or why there was no commentary this weekend. Watching the actions of the left tend to cause people to dislike them while watching Palin in context tends to make people like her.
It’s why the same Morning Joe that totally ignored her Wisconsin speech of last year is ignoring this little scuffle, Rush again:
When the HBO movie Game Change was written and in production, the Democrats may have seen Palin as a potential candidate, given the Republican field. They may have thought she might end up getting in the race and win it. They are scared to death of Sarah Palin. And for those of you new to the program, understand one thing: The Democrat Party will always tell us who they fear by virtue of who they try to destroy. If they thought Sarah Palin was actually this stupid fool idiot they’d be laughing at her and making fun of her. They would not be afraid of her. There would be no need to destroy her if she were all those things that they claim she is.
She would destroy herself. It would take care of itself.
Months after she decided not to run, even with the possible of a brokered convention turning to her being somewhere between slim and bloody impossible, the MSM still fears Sarah Palin…
…they are right to do so.
