With scandal, after scandal, after scandal, after scandal being perpetrated by the Obama Administration—wording intentional–I thought that I would finally take the time to address an issue regarding the reaction to Obama’s acknowledged Kenyan Luo heritage—a heritage which I share.
For the last six years, it seems that everything that Barack Obama has touched or touted fails and that has included the institutions of this country. One might conclude that President Obama’s touch on the very country itself is causing it to fail.
But, the widespread demonization of the Luo tribe of Kenya—that it is an Arab Muslim tribe of slavers– cannot be blamed on the president. (The tribe exists in significant numbers in Uganda and Tanzania as well.)
It seems like a long time ago but I most certainly remember the origin of the notion that Barack Hussein Obama is 50% white, 6.25% black African and 43.75% Arab. It came from a man named Kenneth E. Lamb. Lamb laid out a meandering blog post, sans references, on how he allegedly found this information. I recall sending him an email and commenting on his post. Both my responses refuted his findings and I found it interesting that he had no linked sources to back up his claims. So when I was contemplating this post, I went looking for Mr. Lamb’s post and, lo and behold, the post has been deleted. Perhaps Mr. Lamb had an attack of conscience—though deletion smacks more of cover-up. But, the damage—the Blood Libeling of the Luo Tribe—had been set in motion. There is always the Web Archive, however, and thank God for it.
From February 2008:
Documentation of his actual ethnic background demonstrates Mr. Obama is not an “African-American” as defined in United States law. This research was initiated by a request from a daily news publication of international reputation in New York City.
The story then moves to documenting his father’s genealogy. This study indicates Sen. Obama is actually Arab-American.
Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian, that from his mother. What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming “America’s first African-American president” ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative ethnically African Negro – a maternal great-grandparent (Sen. Obama’s great-great grandparent, thus the 6.25% ethnic contribution to the senator’s ethnic composition.).
That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.
The question no one wants to answer – particularly Mr. Obama and his supporters, is, “Why do you think he has an Arabic name? Why does his father have an Arabic name? Why does every ancestor on his father’s side have an Arabic name?”
The answer is obvious: They have Arabic names because his father’s side of the family tree is Arabic.
Need proof? Research the Kenyan records for yourself. You will find that his father was officially classified as “Arab African” by the Kenyan government.
Here is the truth about Mr. Obama’s name, and his father’s ancestors:
True Negro tribal members of western Kenya where his father was born have Christian names, not Arabic. His father’s decision to name him with an Arabic name is a matter of his father establishing his ethnic identity in Africa – it is done deliberately to separate him from the African tribes. He may live among them, but he is not one of them. His father’s message is that he is Arabic, not Negro.
Many will find these truths unsettling. I’m often asked, “But I thought his father was Kenyan. How could Mr. Obama not be African-American, how could his ethnic composition be so Arabic?”
The definitive clue to that answer is to look at his name, his father’s name, and the names of all his ancestors on his father’s side. They are all Arabic.
Researching his roots reveal that on his father’s side, he is descended from Arab slave traders. They operated under an extended grant from Queen Victoria, who gave them the right to continue the slave trade in exchange for helping the British defeat the Madhi Army in southern Sudan and the Upper Nile region. Funny how circular is history; now the British again face the Madhi Army, albeit this time Shiite, not Sunni, as in nineteenth century Sudan.
Not one single reference link.
All over the conservative blogosphere, in posts and comments, on Facebook, I’ve seen the Big Lie about my tribe being repeated—sometimes by people I respect and whom I consider friends. Often, there are links offered as proof. Whenever I check them, however, there is not one, not a single one, which links to a Kenyan site, a history site, an anthropological site, an academic site, or anything of the kind. And, at some point, the trail always leads back to Kenneth Lamb. (There have been a few who noticed the lack of documentation and who have used posts on my old site as back up, but these have been in the minority. And, of course, I don’t know what I’m talking about—according to the willing believers– even though half my family is Luo and I actually do provide reliable links.)
The Big Lie wasn’t just repeated and believed by bloggers, however. The one and only Rush Limbaugh helped to spread it (too many Leftist sources; click one at your own risk). I actually heard Mr. Limbaugh repeat it live, however, and sent him a note. But, I don’t know what became of it. Here, however, are some facts about my tribe. You’ll note that I provide mostly non-opinion links.
- Since roughly the beginning of the 20th century—and colonialism–the Luo tribe is 90% Christian: Anglican, Seventh Day Adventists and a growing number of Evangelicals. Before this, they practiced tribal beliefs (start at page 166)—not Islam.
- Traditionally, the Luo have never practiced what is euphemistically called female circumcision—a common practice among Muslims.
- Black African converts to Islam—and other coverts—often change their names to Arab names. Often they begin to refer to themselves as Arab. Many African governments go along with this fiction.
- Barack Obama’s grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, was a convert to Islam and added the name ‘Hussein’ upon conversion. (If the tribe were Islamic, why would he need to convert?)
- If Barack Obama were 43.75% Arab, that would mean that Barack Obama Sr. was close
to ninety percent Arab. Call me crazy, but I have a hard time believing that Obama Senior—a man identical to nearly every black African man in the region—is mostly Arab, in spite of the Bravo Sierra I’ve read from Big Lie believers/amateur geneticists regarding dominant and recessive traits.
Let’s get one thing straight: I am not denying that Barack Obama himself may be a Muslim. (This is a change of opinion on my part and I have had to eat crow on that post.) Nor am I denying that his immediate family on the Kenyan side is Muslim.
I am denying that the Luo tribe is Muslim tribe.
Why is this important? Because, as many are becoming more familiar with Arabic Islam’s role in the sacking of the African continent and in the enslavement of black Africans, those who believe the Big Lie have a tendency to further conclude that the Luo tribe was and is the slaver of the other tribes in the region and, therefore, the lackeys of the Jihad.
In making baseless claims about Barack Obama’s African heritage, such people have succeeded in Blood Libeling me, mine and millions of other persons who don’t deserve it. A tribe of slavers…you cannot imagine the incredulity on the part of my Kenyan family—all Seventh Day Adventists–when I told them about the Big Lie. It was collective WTF moment.
I still see this tarnishing of a people all over the place and, though I actively battle it, I had become complacent. Then, after an online friend repeated the smear, I had enough. I mean, it isn’t as if other ethnic groups haven’t been targeted for genocide in the wake of Big Lies and Blood Libels being spread about them. Right?
I hope that the truth gets around as quickly as the falsehood did, but, of course, I know better. It’s the way of this world of lies.
