And now, Dallas: Are the wheels coming off? UPDATED

On the very same week that the FBI kissed the rule of law good-byeRussia’s official legal information website announced a Russia-Cuba nuclear cooperation agreement, 292 people were killed by an ISIS bombing, and the presidential candidate for the Democrat party was pronounced not sophisticated enough to handle confidential correspondence (but who, if elected, would have access to set off the nuclear triad – something the Republican candidate didn’t even know what it is), a group of snipers killed five police officers in Dallas.

Four were Dallas Police Department officers and one was with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Ed Morrissey points out (emphasis added),

It was the deadliest attack on law enforcement since 9/11, and it was no spur-of-the-moment outbreak. The ambush of Dallas police officers during a Black Lives Matter protest killed five and wounded six more, making it second in terms of overall casualties to the 72 law-enforcement officers killed in the al-Qaeda attacks almost fifteen years ago. It ties for the seventh most deadly attack on police in US history.

It also qualifies as an act of domestic terrorism, at least. Former FBI executive assistant director Shawn Henry told NBC’s Today show this morning that the setup of the snipers was clearly well-planned, and almost certainly involved communication between them for maximum efficiency

. . .

Henry tried to emphasize the peaceful nature of the protest prior to the shootings, but NBC News Analyst Clint Van Zandt isn’t buying it. “Many police … feel like they’ve got targets on their backs,” Van Zandt tells Savannah Guthrie and Willie Geist, “when they hear phrases in these marches like ‘We want dead cops’ and ‘fry ’em like bacon’.” Those protests aren’t peaceful; they’re just not explicitly violent, and there is a difference.

Obama, in Poland today, managed to work in a gun control message

“Today is a wrenching reminder of the sacrifices they make for us,” Obama said. “We also know when people are armed with powerful weapons, unfortunately it makes attacks like these more deadly and more tragic.”

Obama, however, ignores that

One of the guns used in the November 13, 2015 Paris terrorist attacks came from Phoenix, Arizona where the Obama administration allowed criminals to buy thousands of weapons illegally in a deadly and futile “gun-walking” operation known as “Fast and Furious.”

No wonder people are wondering whether the wheels are coming off the country.

I first learned about the Dallas attack this morning when I read my friend’s message on Facebook:

My God,
Lay your healing mantle of protection over us while carry out our duties. In Jesus Christ name.

My friend is a police officer. He posted that as he was about to go on his evening shift.
