Some Quick pre-cpac video and thoughts

Thanks to the support of readers (and the insistence of DaFamily that gall bladder operations tomorrow at 11 AM or no I was to go) I am able to type this at the Gaylord National Harbor on Tuesday evening before CPAC starts.

As normal I ended up finding my first interview in an interesting place, in the van on the way from the airport and it concerned another conference (NIRSA) going on in the hotel at the same time which the young fellow in the van and his three friends were attending.

Meanwhile a lot of work going on getting things ready

It looked to me like there was a ton of work to do in the exhibit room and the guys there were doggedly working on, this is the type of thing that a crew in a hotel, particularly one in a convention center is excellent at. It seemed to me that there was no way these guys would finish on time but they’re pros and I suspect when tomorrow rolls around it will look as if they had all the time in the world to do things just right. I talked to the folks doing the work and they take it all in stride but we shouldn’t since it allows us our conference to go on.

I took particular interest in this area

While the Milo story is getting all the headlines I think the real story will be the CPAC Straw poll, I explain why here.

After all what’s to stop a well funded NeverTrump group to pull a Ron/Rand Paul and bus in a bunch of people for a one day registration in order to embarrass the president?

Anyways for me the story is the answer to the following questions:

1. Do the attendees support the president?
2. When did they decide to support him? (day 1, after their candidate dropped out, after the convention, after the election)
3. What won them over?
4. What do they need to see from him to retain their support?

In my opinion the answer to those question are the story here, and I’ll do my best to get them.

2016 Fabulous 50 Blog AwardsCPAC is paid for but the emergency room and surgical bills for DaWife for tomorrow’s operation will start coming in soon and our insurance is not what it once was (thanks Democrats and Obamacare!) so if are so inclined and in a position to do so please consider hitting DaTipJar

If only 130 of the 209K+ unique visitors who came in 2016 .07% subscribed at the same levels as our current subscription base we would make our current annual goal with ease. If we could boost that number to 260 I could afford to go to CPAC and cover major events in person all over the country and maybe take some of Da Magnificent Seven writers with me.
