The Pen is mightier than the Sword

Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak. If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him.

– Sun Tzu The Art of War

The Worcester Tea Party is constituted as a non-profit educational organization; our structure is modeled on the collegiate system. This is not to say that we spend our time drinking Sam Adams Boston Lager and arguing with each other in the Faculty Lounge. Our calling requires we reach out to people and help them understand why our Republic is great and why socialism isn’t great. The former is easier than the latter, but both present challenges.

A tactic that has been of some effect has been writing letters to the editor of you local newspaper. A short and civil letter that gets publish enhances the reputation of the person writing it and the organization they represent. A good letter is well under the word limit and focuses on one single issue or topic. The best letters include a call to action. I would encourage that you do not attack a person as such negativity turns off people in the persuadable middle. It is those people that we need to appeal to most. You should remember that few people want to be involved in politics and fewer wish to spend their time with political fanatics.

The Worcester Tea Party can support your effort by proof reading a draft of your letter. Just e-mail them to and our experienced letter writes will reply with suggestions on improving your submission. If you have mastered the letter writing craft we will invite you to join our letter writing team. Any of us can write a letter and together we can write the letters that will save our Republic. Thank you for all that you do in the cause of Liberty.
